Highway 1 Detour South Of Ely To Continue Until Mid October

Motorists that travel Highway 1 south of Ely will need to continue to use the detour.  Work originally scheduled to be completed by August 15th has not been finished, due to a variety of reasons.

MnDOT officials cite equipment breakdowns and challenging terrain as the primary reason  the timeline for the project has been extended to the middle of October.

Crews are working with extra equipment and working overtime to get the scheduled work done.
