Additional Information

The untimely death of John Dashwood has left his two daughters, Elinor and Marianne, in search of husbands while lacking the social standing they enjoyed while he lived. During Victorian England, social standing and wealth often dictated marriages more than love and affection. The steady Colonel Brandon adores Marianne, but she finds him dull. She has been captivated by the young and dashing Willoughby. Elinor’s heart belongs to Edward Ferrars, and though he seems equally intrigued with her, he is oddly remote. In Kate Hamill’s adaptation, the sisters must find the balance between sense and sensibility or threaten their chances for true love and happiness.
