On Friday, February 7th, 2014 members of the Duluth Police Department and Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force executed a search warrant at an apartment building in the 100 block of East 4th Street. During the execution of the search warrant task force investigators arrested ROBERT DESEAN CHISM (aka “SLEEP”) a 25 year old male resident of Chicago, IL.

Investigators had been conducting an investigation into a group of heroin dealers from Chicago over the past several months. CHISM was a part of this group of dealers. During the investigation there were eight undercover buys of heroin made directly from CHISM.

During the execution of the search warrant investigators recovered additional evidence of heroin sales including 7 grams of heroin packaged for sale, a digital scale, (the type of scale commonly used by drug dealers to measure weights), heroin packaging, a coffee grinder used to mix heroin, and approximately $2500.00 in cash. There was also a two year old child present during the execution of the search warrant.

Today CHISM was formally charged in Saint Louis County District Court with 8 counts of 3rd Degree Sale of Heroin and one count of 2nd Degree Sale of Heroin. Additional charges on CHISM are forthcoming for possession of the heroin located during the search warrant. CHISM is currently incarcerated at the Saint Louis County Jail in Duluth. He is currently being held on $10,000.00 bail.
