Head Coach John Randolph of the Duluth East Greyhounds and Kevin Smalley of the Duluth Denfeld Hunters were named winners of the John Mariucci Award during Hockey Championship Weekend in St. Paul.

The award, given by the Minnesota Hockey Coaches Association, is given to the best coach in each class every year. The Class AA honor was awarded to Randolph, who led the Greyhounds to their fifth straight tournament appearance and a third place finish this season. This is the first time Randolph has won the award.

Smalley earned the Class A award after leading the Hunters to the Section 7A championship game, just short of the team's first state appearance since 1989. THis is the second time Smalley has received the award, winning it in the 2009-2010 season as well.
