Drivers who use the John A. Blatnik Bridge between Duluth and Superior need to know about a lane closure that will start Monday, August 12.

Northbound/Duluth-bound, right lane on the Interstate 535/Blatnik Bridge, will close to traffic for several weeks. It will remain closed until late-October.

The southbound/Superior-bound right lane on the Blatnik Bridge has been closed, but will re-open Wednesday Aug. 14.

Temporary southbound right lane closures may occur after Aug. 14, but not between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.

The Blatnik Bridge two-year rehabilitation project began in May 2012. The work being done this year includes painting and the installation of a new decorative lighting system.

The reconstructed lanes will be smoother and safer for motorists.
