Steve Tanko

Here's more than you ever cared to know about me. I'm a "lifer".  ...Born and raised on Minnesota's Iron Range...moving to the Twin Ports area 20 years ago. I've worked for these radio stations for18 years and love every minute of it.  Although you hear me on the radio during the mid-day, my main role is Production Manager for our stations - writing and producing commercials. In my spare time (what's that?)  I'm married with one child.  I'm active in my son's school and volunteer in the community and serve on a variety of boards and committees.  I love to cook and have collected records for my entire life.  Although I spin "the Northland's Favorite Hits" on the radio, my collection is mostly comprised of classic country.   I'm also interested in business and economics. Thanks for listening!!

What Is A Foodie? Translating The Current Food And Cooking Buzz Into Action

First - a pet-peeve of mine by way of an example.  I recently stumbled across a picture of a cake on Facebook that looked absolutely delicious.  So, I clicked and clicked again (you know how social media makes you "unpeel" it's layers like an onion) to finally get to the recipe.  And then - in an instant, I was no longer interested.  You see, the cake looked wonderful and the description sounded great - but the initial part of the recipe called for a brownie box mix in addition to 10 or 12 other ingredients. Unfortunately, the recipe lost me at "box mix".
