The public is invited to the YMCA at the Essentia Wellness Center for a special ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the Kids Garden Project.

The ribbon cutting will be held on Friday, August 14 at 12:30 p.m. at the YMCA at the Essentia Wellness Center, which is located at 4289 Ugstad Road in Hermantown (west side of the building).

The Kids Garden Project benefits two YMCA programs for kids, the summer DayCamp Kitchigami and year-round Early Childhood Development Center.

Jeramy Katchuba, District Vice President at Duluth Area YMCA approached the Skyline Rotary Club asking them to build eight raised bed gardens for the kids in his programs. The gardens give kids hands-on experience learning how to grow healthy food, and the joy of eating that food they’ve grown.

The Skyline Rotary Club has been building community service projects in Hermantown, Proctor and Duluth for 47 years according to Todd Peyton, the Club’s current President.

They pride themselves on "building strong friendships by working together to provide services to our communities both locally and internationally. Our community service projects improve the lives of the young through the aging."
