If you are looking for some inspiration, you don't have to look too far. A Wrenshall native was honored Thursday (February 24th) for his contributions for St. Jude.

You definitely recognize Harold Ankrum, especially if you are a big supporter of St. Jude. He holds several events throughout the year with all proceeds benefitting the hospital. His events range from a golf scramble every August to a pancake breakfast. These are just a few of his major events.

These events raise tens of thousands of dollars which Harold and family selflessly donate to the B105 Radiothon. Even throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Harold and his events have raised thousands. The community always shows up as well.

In 2021 alone, Harold and his events raised a record-breaking amount. With all of the events Harold and family put on, they raised a whopping $40,000 dollars for St. Jude. It is an absolutely incredible accomplishment.

For all these reasons, Harold was honored Thursday afternoon during the first day of B105's annual Radiothon for St. Jude. He had no idea that he was being honored. His family was in on the surprise, bringing him to the station where he was awarded something that is more than deserved.

For his twenty-two years donating and giving to St. Jude, Harold was honored with his very own brick which will lay on the pathway outside one of St. Jude's buildings. It will be laid at St. Jude's Advanced Research Center's pathway in 2023.

He has raised over $400,000 dollars over the course of the two decades he has been giving back. Not only is Harold selfless, but he wants no attention for raising all the money he does. He truly just loves and cares for the kids at St. Jude.

As mentioned in the surprise above, Harold will also get his own commemorative brick that he can have to remind him of all he has done for the kids at St. Jude. St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is located in Memphis.

Thank you so much to Harold, Tara and the entire family and community in Carlton, Wrenshall and surrounding areas. You are a massive part of our Radiothon at B105 and do more than we could put into words for the kids at St. Jude.

Our Radiothon continues into Friday (February 25th) where we will continue raising money for the cause. You can learn about St. Jude's mission and how you can give back on our website.
