Northland hunters who use temporary tree stands may be able to leave them up overnight in state-managed lands - depending on the outcome of the next Wisconsin DNR meeting.  That meeting - scheduled for Wednesday, January 25 - will discuss the issue with changes to the law as a possible outcome.

The regulations would effect state-managed forests north of Highway 64.

Currently, sportsmen who hunt on these properties and erect temporary tree stands and ground blinds need to remove them at the end of each hunting day.  A change to the law that's being proposed would allow those stands and blinds to remain in place.

The meeting will take place at the State Natural Resources Building (GEF 2), 101 South  Webster Street, Room G09 - starting at 8:30 AM.
