One of the public lots along Wisconsin Point in Superior is closing temporarily for maintenance issues.  The City of Superior is alerting the general public that Lot 21 will be closed to use on three specific days:  Tuesday July 31, Thursday August 2, and Friday August 3.  The closure will be in effect from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM on each of the days listed.

City officials aren't saying what specific maintenance will be performed.

The move follows the recent invitation from Superior Mayor Jim Paine to help clean up the popular beach.  The recent heavy rains and storms we have experienced this summer has left Wisconsin Point with an overabundance of driftwood and other wood debris.  In a social media post, Paine shared that information and then invited everyone to help with cleanup by having bonfires on the beach.  While the gatherings themselves are legal, the mayor did remind potential party-makers that they need to follow a few laws and guidelines - specifically about fire placement, alcohol, and litter laws.
