Why would a man smile at a woman in the first place? A smile says "Hi, I'm a goink and I'm d e s p e r a t e".  If she is looking right at you, a "Hey" and wink works for me.

If you want to get a date with the girl next door, don't smile at her. Raise your arms in the air like you just hit a game-winning home run instead.

This advice may seem crazy but it's backed up by a recent study from the University of British Columbia. The researchers grabbed 1,000 adults and asked them to rate the attractiveness of a person in a photo.
