U2 kicked off their Innocence + Experience Tour last night in Vancouver with a career-spanning set list, a stunning new stage setup and a stunning mishap.

The concert, held before an audience of 19,000 at Rogers Arena, began with "The Miracle (Of Joey Ramone)" from U2's newest album, Songs of Innocence, before going back to the very beginning of their musical journey with 1980's "Out of Control." “We’re a band from the Northside of Dublin,” Bono said from the stage. “This is one of our first singles."

They than paired the more recent "Vertigo" with the vintage "I Will Follow." The set itself echoed this shift from one era to another, beginning with a single lightbulb and then transitioning into a stage dominated by giant video screens. In all, U2 performed seven tracks from Songs of Innocence, an album that became a lightning rod for criticism after it was inserted into the library of all iTunes users last year. Other highlights of the night included U2's acoustic version of "Sunday Bloody Sunday." You can see a complete set list and videos from the show below.

But the evening wouldn't be complete without a first-show hitch: The Edge walked off the stage during a rousing finale of "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For." Security guards helped him up as the the rest of the band continued playing. Check it out:

The guitarist later posted a photo to Instagram, confirming that his injuries luckily amounted to a only few scrapes. “Didn’t see the edge," he joked. "I’m OK!!”

Ironically, preparations for this tour were delayed after another fall -- when Bono had a serious bicycle accident in New York City's Central Park. He suffered injuries to his arm and face. The Innocence + Experience Tour will continue through November, first in North America and then into Europe.
