The best time of the entire year is here: October! This means pumpkin patches, corn mazes and of course spooky, scary events.

Living in the Northland during Halloween is great because there is no shortage of amazing attractions to celebrate ghosts, goblins and ghouls.

This year is no different. There are a ton of different events that range from family friendly outings you can take your kids to to haunted attractions that will surely make you want to sleep with the lights on.

With so much going on, we decided to compile a list of events and happenings around the area so you can plan your October and live it to the fullest.

The events are organized by date, starting at the ones that kick off earlier this month and continue chronologically through October. The last events are ones that go on all month long.

    Halloween Classics At Zeitgeist Zinema 2

    Do you wish you could watch Halloween classics on the big screen? Now you can! Duluth's Zeitgeist Zinema 2 is hosting movie screenings all month long so you can watch your favorite scary films while kicking back and eating popcorn! The movies range from funny Halloween movies to scary slasher films. There's a full schedule that's packed with something for everyone.

    The Haunted Shack

    This Northland favorite is back again! The haunted attraction starts the scares on Friday, October 11th and continues through the last day of the month. Bring a friend and go through the haunted house, hop on the haunted hayride and take a stroll through a maze of corn. Bonus: you get a discount if you bring an non-perishable food item.

    The Haunted Forest

    This haunted attraction is located in Saginaw but it's definitely worth the short drive! For ten bucks or less, you can get spooked. There are several different dates you can make the trip, beginning Friday, October 11th and continuing through Monday, October 28th.

    Boo At The Zoo

    The event takes place at the Lake Superior Zoo a few weekends each October. This month, the family-friendly event will be held on two different Saturdays: October 12th and the 19th. Doors open at 10 a.m. You can expect food, trick-or-treating and of course, some quality time with the animals.

    The Great Pumpkin Train

    The Depot's Great Pumpkin Train will kick off on October 17th and run through the 20th. Hop on the train to a special pumpkin patch you can only get to via the train and then have some fun afterward with music, bounce houses and food!

    Poplar Golf Course Haunted Attraction

    Poplar Golf Course is getting a transformation, at least for a few dates this October. They are hosting a haunted hayride and house for select dates throughout the month. You can bring kids and let them hang in a designated scare-free zone and there's also a less scary option if you're a bit too chicken.

    Flashlight Tours At The Glensheen

    For two nights at the end of the month, you can see the Glensheen like never before! A tour guide will take you around the estate. All the lights will be off and you will be guided only be a flashlight. You will get a special adult sippy cup for drinking while taking the tour included in admission. The event is for adults 21 and older only.

    North End Nightmare 5K

    Here's a spooky event that's good for your health! The North End Nightmare is a 5k race that is new to the Northland this year. This race takes you around Superior, Wisconsin and the best part is the course is spooky. Running from zombies? We will see. It's also pretty cheap to register, too!

    Target's PAW Patrol Kids Halloween Party

    Target is hosting a special event for kids prior to Halloween. Your kids can trick-or-treat inside the store on Saturday, October 26th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will also be an exclusive viewing of PAW Patrol and special giveaways.

    Malloween At Miller Hill Mall

    The annual event will be held once again on Halloween at Duluth's Miller Hill Mall. The event is for kids and kicks off at 4 p.m. It continues through 7 p.m. with trick-or-treating around the mall, a costume contest and games. You don't have to register for the event ahead of time - you can just show up!

    The Glensheen Pumpkin Hunt

    This month-long festivity goes through Halloween. Head to the mansion and find the nine hidden pumpkins throughout the estate. If you find them all, you get a special prize.
