As we reported back in January, country singer Trisha Yearwood is taking her cooking-skills to television with a new series set to debut April 14th on the Food Network.

The series invites viewers into the kitchen with Yearwood for her favorite meals, nostalgic stories and visits from family and friends. Themed shows range from preparing traditional dishes from her childhood to planning a baby shower and a family reunion barbecue to offering tips on lightening up standard Southern recipes.

Yearwood is already the author of two cookbooks - which put the focus on her brand of southern-style comfort food.

“Georgia Cooking in an Oklahoma Kitchen” was released in 2008, and “Home Cooking with Trisha Yearwood” was released in 2010. Both books reached No. 1 on the New York Times’ best-seller list in the advice, how-to and miscellaneous category.

Although Yearwood lives in Oklahoma with husband Garth Brooks, the production for the upcoming television series happened in Music City.

Shot in Nashville, the series features Yearwood’s tips for down-home dishes like Barbecued Chicken, Uncle Wilson’s Grilled Onions, Chick-less Pot Pie and Sweet and Saltines.
