Lakeview Christian Academy, powered by stellar performances from senior Anders Broman, made it to the 2013 State Boys Basketball Tournament. In the quartefinal round, the team fell 54-72 to Rushford Peterson.

Broman finished his career with 5,119 points, which is the most in the history of Minnesota High School Basketball.

Head Coach Bob Newstrom said after the loss, “Their guys put fourth the effort, Rushford-Peterson made most of the things that we did more difficult.  They played good defense and shot the ball well”.

Senior Anders Broman said following the game, “They stuck to their game plan, they didn’t get rattled but they played well and wish I could have played a couple games longer, but what a great way to end my career.”

 

Esko is in the state semifinals on Friday night at Target Center.

Just one area team remains at the state boys basketball tournament, the Esko Eskomos..

They won Wednesday night to advance to the semifinal round Friday night where they will face Litchfield at Target Center.

Tip–off scheduled for 8pm in the Class AA tournament...

The Eskomos enjoying their third trip to state as a school, but Esko knows Friday will be another tough test.  Mike Devney said Litchfield is well coached and respects their program.

Esko is 27-4 overall.

 

The Top Ten Finalists for this years Hobey Baker Award were announced Thursday and  Hermantown Native Drew LeBlanc was named one of the top ten players in the country...

The St. Cloud State star was the first player in the 52 year history of the WCHA TO WIN THE League MVP award, and the Top Scholar–Athlete award in the WCHA.

He has a 3.6 GPA and led the country in assists and finished the year with 50 points, he also took apart in the Minnesota Wild Development camp a year ago.

The 2012 Hobey Baker was won by UMD's Jack Connolly.

The Bulldogs the only school with 5 Hobey Baker winners.

And in MLB spring training Thursday, the Chicago White Sox beat the Brewers 8–3.

The Twins and Yankees play again on Friday night.  Twins got the  6–1 win on Thursday night over the Yankees.
