John Shuster Rink representing the USA secured the last available place in the men's curling competition at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games by beating the Czech Republic 8-5 in the second playoff held in Germany.

Duluth's John Shuster Rink, Team USA Curling, won their tiebreaker game today against Korea. Korea started the week strong and Team USA did not. They fought through some games and became 5 and 2 and wound up with a tie for first, because of match outcomes they wound up playing Korea to have a chance to play on and qualify for the Olympics.

Team John Shuster hit the shots they needed to and Finland conceited the win in the 9th end with Shuster winning 10 to 4. Team USA now has 5 wins, tied for first with Korea, whom they beat, and waiting the results of the Czecks and Germany. Both teams with the same amount of wins going in to the last game.

This morning Duluth's John Shuster Rink from Duluth, MN upset the top team Korea to move into a tie for first with 4 teams, with one more match to go against Finland around noon cst. The Shuster Rink is trying to qualify for the Olympics by becoming one of the top 2 teams.

The John Shuster Rink got a lucky break. All the teams that needed to lose, lost at the Curling Qualifying in Germany. So the USA is tied for 2nd still, the Shuster team is playing now and winning, which is what they need.

John Shuster is trying to qualify for the Olympic games in Russia. He has to be one of the top two teams in Germany after this week. He had a rough start losing an ugly game to the Czecks, but his team's luck changed.

John Shuster had a great week in Fargo, ND. He won the round robin to become one of the two teams to playoff, narrowly lost a match with former team mate Pete Fenson, then went up 11 to 1 only to have Fenson concede.

At the halfway mark for the men's teams, 2006 Olympic bronze medalist John Shuster leads the qualifying round after a match at noon. The next round will take place at 7 pm tonite with fellow 2006 Olympic bronze medalist Pete Fenson one win behind Shuster at the 2014 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Curling.
