You could swap out that old wood stove you've had for years for a new, energy-efficient model and end up money ahead.  That's the aim of a new program put forth by Environmental Initiative.  Wood stoves were bought before 1990 qualify for the program.

According to their website, wood stove users can apply for grant money to help subsidize the replacement purchase.  Applicants could see funds between $325 to $10,000 depending on the stove model and income level.

Provided data from the Environmental Initiative website touts the benefits of replacing these older wood stoves.  Removing one single inefficient wood burning stove is the equivalent of removing 700 cars from the road per year.
