Superior Water Light & Power is looking into building a solar garden in the City of Superior.

According to the Superior Telegram, the utility is considering building a 250-kilowatt solar garden somewhere in the city, they are looking for land or a partner with land to keep the costs as low as possible.

If built, the solar garden would provide enough energy to power about 45 homes. They say participation in the program would be open to all of its 15,000 customers.

The utility tells the telegram that they are currently working with the city and Douglas County to find the 3-5 acres needed for the solar project.

If you'd like to learn more about the project you can attend the Superior Water, Light & Power customer open house at Barkers Island Inn on August 7th from 4 PM - 7 PM.
