Blood is a lifeline - often the difference between life and death for those in need.  In an effort to shore-up the bank of available blood products, Superior Choice Credit Union is hosting a Community Blood Drive at the Northland Chapter of the American Red Cross, Wednesday, October 11.  Available donors are asked to drop by the Red Cross' office at 2524 Maple Grove Road between the hours of 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

According to information provided by the Red Cross, someone in the United States needs blood product every two seconds.  That sort of turn-over requires constant attention to supplies all over the country;  locally, that sort of need means that a donor might easily know the person who's getting the end product, making the life saving effort that much more important.

All blood types are needed, however there is a special focus on those with types O negative, A negative, and B negative.

For more information and to make an appointment to donate, call 1-800-RED-CROSS or sign up online at redcrossblood.org, with the sponsor code SCCU.
