If you or your child gets a lollipop in the mail..be careful. Chances are it could be infected with chickenpox..

Federal prosecutors say vaccination-wary parents trading chickenpox-infected lollipops in a misguided effort to expose children to the disease are just plain suckers.

“Sending a virus or disease through the U.S. Mail — and private carriers — is illegal. It doesn’t matter if it crosses state lines,” said David Boling, spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Middle District of Tennessee.

The warning follows a report by a CBS TV affiliate in Phoenix which revealed that parents are trading the virus-infected lollipops through the mail in order to infect their children, erroneously thinking they are helping their kids develop immunity for later in life.
