St. Louis Cty Approves $407 Million Budget For 2020
It should be a big year for St. Louis County in 2020. At their most-recent meeting, members of the St. Louis County board passed the budget for the upcoming year. Totaling $407 million, it takes its position as the largest budget on record ever for the county.
Included in the 2020 budget is increased investment in public works equipment and materials to help maintain and improve upon the county's road and bridge infrastructure. Also included are investments in public safety and in programs that address substance abuse and mental health, as well as other services for vulnerable adults and children. In addition the numbers also address the increasing cost of wages and benefits.
In detail, the line item budget number for 2020 is $407,171,161 - with just a little over a third of the dollars coming from the property tax levy. That budget gets spread over 7,000 square miles and provides services for 200,000 residents.
