As things start to slowly open up following the shut-down response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, you can add one more government agency:  The St. Louis County Courthouses in Duluth, Hibbing, and Virginia will open their doors on Monday, June 15. 

The reopening will be for counter court customer service only and not for court hearings; court hearings will continue to be held remotely and will not be taking place at the courthouses.

To facilitate the customer service, the courthouses will be open weekdays - Monday through Friday - from 8:00 AM until 4:30 PM.  These hours will be designated for services that can only be done in person - like accessing the public records terminals. Individuals are still encouraged to accomplish any court services remotely - if they can.

The reopening comes with new rules to protect the health and safety of the general public. Anyone entering  a St. Louis County Courthouse will be required to wear a face mask.  Court security staff from the Sheriff's Office will be stationed at designated entrances to ensure that all visitors have conducted a COVID-19 self-screening; they'll also direct visitors to the location where court services are being offered.  All unnecessary visitors - like those simply accompanying a person to a court office - are asked to remain outside of the building.

All other county offices located within the courthouse buildings - along with all other county buildings - remain closed with services continuing to be available by phone, email and mail, as well as select services offered curbside and by appointment.

The St. Louis County Auditor's Service Center at the Miller Hill Mall reopened on June 1.  Meanwhile the St. Louis County Environmental Services solid waste drop off sites have remained open and operating throughout the course of the pandemic.
