St. Louis County Breaks Ground For New Public Works Facility
Officials with St. Louis County are inviting the general public to the groundbreaking for their new Public Works Facility in Cook, Wednesday, June 13 - 10:30 AM. The new $23 million facility will be constructed at 9558 Ashawa Road in Cook on the former site of Disability Associates.
The new Public Works Facility will include construction of a 82,000 square foot heated building for vehicle storage and mechanic space. In addition, a 16,500 square foot cold storage building will be built, along with a similarly-sized building for salt and sand storage. Together, the campus will provide a centralized location for county services - serving more than 2,000 square miles of St. Louis County - from Side Lake to Kabetogema, Cook, Linden Grove, even a portion of the Echo Trail.
The building projects are anticipated to be finished by late fall of 2019. Once completed, the existing facility in Cook will be closed. At the same time, the building in Linden Grove will be converted to a depot for winter salt and sand storage.
