To help runners in their training, Essentia Health and Grandma's Marathon are hosting another pre-race event.

According to the Grandma's Marathon Website, Saturday, February 29th will offer many sessions for both first time and veteran runners. The format will allow people to choose the session that they find interesting. The Free event begins at 9:30 am at Grandma's Sports Garden.

That morning at 8 am, the day will begin with a group run hosted by Tony Stensland Coaching, which will feature different distances with a group leader assigned to guide runners on the route.

After the run, there will be a complimentary breakfast back at the Sports Garden. There will also be past years of Grandma's Marathon apparel and other merchandise.

Then there will be "breakout" sessions with Yoga for Runners, Self Defense for Runners, Runners’ Nutrition, Strength & Resistance Training in Distance Running, and Stretching for Running.

A full event schedule that includes complete descriptions of the breakouts is up on Grandma's Website.

This year will not feature a keynote speaker, but rather a viewing party of the 2020 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials which begins at 11:00 a.m. with the women’s’ division followed by the men’s’ division. There will also be drawings for prizes.
