Rock Wall at Harrison Park to begin Restoration

This Wednesday, May 29th, the Rock Wall will begin the restoration process at Harrison Park.

The scope of wall restoration includes; graffiti removal, removal of damaged rock, replacement of mortar joints and missing rock, and surface capping.

Residents can expect to see Northern Bedrock Historic Preservation AmeriCorps members at Harrison Park from May 29th through June 5, working on the project.  Noise from the project will occur during the work hours of 8 am - 6:30 pm. The park will remain open during restoration, with the exception of fenced construction areas.

Please note that both prior to the project and during the restoration work, the chain link fencing around the basketball court will be removed. The City of Duluth will reinstall the fencing when the rock wall work is completed.

Northern Bedrock Historic Preservation Corps is an AmeriCorps nonprofit organization that works to engage the next generation in the preservation trades by partnering with skilled trades professionals doing historic preservation work.

Northern Bedrock Historic Preservation Corps, along with the Preservation Alliance of Minnesota and Duluth Parks and Recreation, will be hosting a hands-on masonry workshop at Harrison Park on Saturday, June 1 from 10 am – 4 pm.  Participants will be invited to learn about historic masonry materials and techniques while working on the park’s historic stone wall. This workshop is open to the public. Cost is $40.
