A voluntary recall has been issued by the Quaker Oats Company - a subsidiary of PepsiCo, Inc. - for one of their products due to allergen concerns. The product in question is their Sweet Barbecue Flavor Quaker Rice Crisps and the recall was prompted by undeclared soy ingredients.

According to the United States Food and Drug Administration, a total of 4,550 bags of the product are involved in the recall process at the present time - covering a wide number of states across the country.  All of the bags include a specific "best before date" of "May 29, 2021". It's worth noting that there are no other recalls tied to Quaker Rice Crisp products (i.e. no other flavors are included at the present time). Additionally, no other bag sizes of Sweet Barbecue Flavor Quaker Rice Crisps are involved.

People with food allergy's - especially those with a soy allergy - should not consume these food items.  According to the United States Food and Drug Administration, "people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to soy run the risk of a serious life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the product contained inside the recalled bags".  Consumers are being directed to dispose of the affected products or return them to the store from which they were purchases.  Additionally, they can contact the Quaker Consumer Relations hotline:  1-800-367-6287.   No medical issues have been reported at the present time.
