Just in time for the changing seasons comes this recall from Fairbault Foods, Inc; the Minnesota-based company is recalling their line of Progresso Organic Chicken Noodle Soup due to allergen concerns.  At issue is the fact that the labels don't identify the fact that the soup contains milk and soy - known allergens - as well as beef and pork.

According to the United States Department of Agriculture, the company has voluntarily recalled approximately 15,134 pounds of the soup at the present time.  "The problem was discovered when the firm’s distributor notified the Food Safety and Inspection Services of consumer complaints that the soup contained meatballs and pasta instead of chicken and noodles."  At the present time there are no known cases of illness of any medical issues.

Here are the specifics about the recall:

  • Product name:  Progresso Organic Chicken Noodle Soup
  • Size:  14 ounce can
  • Best by date:  " “BestByMAY262022” printed on the bottom of the can and a best by date of “09JUN2022” printed on the product case."
  • Additional notes:  The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST18826A” printed on the bottom of the can under the best by date.

Consumers who believe that they may have some of the affected Progresso soup product in their pantry should take note.  Don't consume the food.  The United States Department of Agriculture recommends throwing the soup away or contacting the store that it was purchased from. They can also contact the General Mills Consumer Help Line number:  1-800-200-9377.
