As work continues forward on the new Duluth Transportation Center (DTC) project, officials with the city are alerting downtown Skywalk users about an upcoming closure.

Starting Monday, June 22 - the Northwest Passage part of the Skywalk will be closed to the public as the initial phase of the reconstruction begins.

According to the Greater Downtown Council, the Duluth Transit Authority (DTA) will provide free shuttle-bus service between the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center (DECC) parking lot and the downtown area from 5:50 AM to 6:32 PM on weekdays.  There will be two main stops for shuttle-bus service in the DECC parking lot.  DTA bus stop signs will be placed at these locations.  There will also be a temporary bus stop located on 5th Avenue West just above Michigan Street.  The shuttle bus will stop at all other DTA bus stops along the route.  The shuttle bus is identified as Route 22 with "22 Downtown & DECC" displayed in the digital destination sign located on the front and right side of the bus.

The DTA Port Town Trolley is an additional option for citizens traveling between downtown, the DECC, and Canal Park.  The Port Town Trolley fare is $0.50 cents.  The nearest Port Town Trolley stop to the DECC parking lot is located in front of the William A. Irvin ship on Harbor Drive.  Flyers showing the schedule and map will be provided to the DECC, the Greater Downtown Council, and the downtown hotels for distribution.  Downloadable PDF's of the map and schedule on that flyer are available at the DTA's website.
