Just in time for the busy Valentine's Day candy season comes this recall:  Palmer Candy Company has issued a voluntary recall of their Sea Salt Caramel Hearts product.  The issue is a possible peanut allergy concern.

The recall comes from an internal source.  According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), team members observed a peanut stuck to the outside of some of the candy product in question; peanuts are not an ingredient used to the manufacture of the sea salt caramel hearts, thus they aren't listed on the product label. The candy was sold in a variety of states - including Minnesota.

Here is the specific information regarding the product being recalled:

  • Name:  Palmer's Bakery Delights Sea Salt Caramel Hearts
  • UPC #:  77232-17091
  • Product size:  12 ounce tub
  • Best by date:  12/28/18

It should be noted that while the initial recall date for this product is January 2018, the FDA website is listing this recall news with a 1/17/20 news date.
