We all know that winter is right around the corner. In fact, it is basically here in the Twin Ports.

It isn't a secret that anything can happen in the Twin Ports around this time of year. For the most part, we saw a mild October. If you aren't a fan of winter, you can be thankful that we didn't see snow during the month and also that we didn't see another Halloween blizzard!

Now that November is here, we won't be so lucky. This is always the time of year we get hit with winter no matter what and according to the Old Farmer's Almanac, this year will be no different.

Whether you believe in their methodology or not, it is always interesting to see what they have to say when it comes to their weather forecasts. I always look at the start of the new month to see what they are forecasting just for fun.

So what are they forecasting for our region for November? The Old Farmer's Almanac says it will be snowy and cold, which is par for the course. Like I said, we got spoiled in October!

What can we expect for the start of the month, according to the Old Farmer's Almanac?

For the first week of the month, the Old Farmer's Almanac says we can expect cold conditions and snow showers. We will get a brief break from those conditions from the eighth through the eleventh, where we will see sunshine and mild conditions for a few days.

Will we see similar conditions into the middle of the month?

The Old Farmer's Almanac says snow showers will dominate through the middle of the month, from the twelfth of the month through the nineteenth. We can also expect cold temperatures.

What can we expect to round out the month?

The Old Farmer's Almanac says we will get a break from snow showers and instead, will see milder conditions like flurries beginning on the twentieth. However, temperatures will get even cooler, with the Old Farmer's Almanac saying conditions will be "frigid" during this period.

From the twenty-fifth through the end of the month, we will see snow and cold temperatures. While this isn't a huge shock, it looks like we are in for an extremely cold Thanksgiving, even more so than usual.

How does this differ from an average November in the Twin Ports?

While we always see cold temperatures this time of year, the Old Farmer's Almanac says it will be a colder-than-average month. It will be noticeable too as we will see temperatures about seven degrees below average!

At least it was a nice month before we get hit with winter! WDIO Meteorologist Brandon Weathers shared some facts about October in Duluth and it looks like we were way above average. It was fun while it lasted.

By the way, you have to take the Old Farmer's Almanac with a grain of salt. Not everyone believes in their methodology, as they make long-term weather predictions by region. Our region includes the Twin Ports, most of Minnesota and a good portion of Superior.

In October, the Old Farmer's Almanac predicted that we would see our first snowfall. I had a bit of snow at my house on Halloween but otherwise, their predictions were a little bit off for the month.
