New Vendor For St. Louis County’s Non-Emergency Medical Transport
Like most years - 2019 will bring about changes. One of those will affect St. Louis County residents who utilize the non-emergency medical transport services.
The county has partnered with a new vendor for the coming year. Medical Transportation Management (MTM) will be the new contract services provider as of January 1, 2019 - replacing St. Louis County financial services staff who have been responsible for coordinating rides to and from medical appointments and authorizing necessary reimbursements.
The move was made to improve services for those who require it and to also free up county staff for other work. Approximately 42,000 people access non-emergency medical transportation services in St. Louis County.
MTM is no stranger to the situation. They presently provide similar, non-emergency medical transportation services for 13 other counties in Minnesota.
Anyone who is eligible for Medical Assistance can request these transportation services. In 2017, county staff coordinated 13,000 trips for medical care.
