These things are enormous! The first time I saw one was earlier this year down near the Twin Cities Metro. I had no idea what it was! It's a new piece of equipment the Minnesota Department of Transportation is using to clear snow. It's called a tow plow. And, that's basically what it is: an extra plow tow behind a plow, allowing the rig to clear 26" wide of snow.  That's impressive!

Of course you should always give plow drivers plenty of room to do their jobs, but maybe give these guys a little more room. They've got a lot on their plate, but this equipment should help clear roads faster and more efficiently. With this already very snowy winter it's something we could use more of! Especially with parts of Minnesota expecting significant snowfall this weekend.
