As the season changes and the colder temperatures are hovering around us, it's worth noting that we have entered into the time period of the Cold Weather Rule.  Instituted by the State of Minnesota, the rule protects qualifying utility customers from having their heat-providing service disconnected for non-payment between the dates of October 15 and April 15 - with a payment plan in place.

It's worth pointing out that the rule doesn't get delinquent customers off the hook from the bills they owe;  a qualifying customer with Minnesota Power must work out a payment plan.  In addition, the account balance continues to accrue during the winter months.
