Minnesota State Patrol Offers Left Lane Law Update

Minnesota's Left Lane Law went into effect on August 1st and this week the Minnesota State Patrol offered an update on how the public has responded and how to avoid citations.

According to a post on their Facebook page, the Minnesota State Patrol says that dozens of motorists have been issued citations or warnings.  They also offered these Left Lane Law reminders:

• If you are driving in the left lane and someone comes up from behind you, move over when practicable.
• If you need to pass someone, do so in the left lane – but then get back in the right lane as soon as you’re clear. Doing so is a good way to prevent road rage.
• Keeping the left lane clear for those who are passing will make the road safer and life easier for all drivers on the road.
• Nothing in the law allows drivers to speed.

Just remember to stay in the right lane until you need to pass someone and if you find yourself in the left lane with a car pulling up close behind you, move over to the right lane as soon as you can safely do so.
