Minnesota State Colleges And Universities Have Canceled Graduation Ceremonies

Unfortunately for thousands of students across the state of Minnesota who attend state colleges or Universities there will be no in person commencement for the class of 2020 due to the Covid-19 epidemic. As heartbreaking as this is, I doubt that they will be alone with more schools being forced to follow suit.

Earlier this week the Minnesota State School system announced alternative methods when classes resume on March 30. This could be delivered in a variety of different ways from using online technical resources to changing the number of days a class is being held. Unfortunately though some students do not have access to the technology they would need to continue in class and some classes cannot be taught on line so other alternatives are being explored as well. And now in light of how things have progressed an in person commencement has been canceled.

According to the Duluth News Tribune Doug Anderson, director of communications and media at the Minnesota State System stated "Spring in-person commencements at all Minnesota State colleges and universities have been suspended, though many colleges and universities are preparing for alternative forms of celebration such as virtual commencement events. Each college and university should be contacted for the latest information about their plans."
