Mick Jagger Sings Bob Dylan’s ‘Just LIke A Woman’ At Memorial Service For L’Wren Scott
After having been buried in a private ceremony on March 25, the life of L'Wren Scott, the girlfriend of Rolling Stones vocalist Mick Jagger, was celebrated at a memorial service held at Manhattan's St. Bartholomew's Church on Friday night (May 2). Jagger paid tribute to his late girlfriend, singing the Bob Dylan song 'Just Like A Woman.'
Rolling Stone reports that Jagger's son James read a poem during the service. Two of his grandchildren read Psalm 23 while Lisa Fischer, a long-time Rolling Stones backing vocalist, sang 'Amazing Grace.'
Also in attendance at the service last evening were movie directors Baz Luhrmann and Martin Scorsese ('Shine A Light') as well as actresses Sarah Jessica Parker and Ellen Barkin.
Scott, Jagger's girlfriend since 2001, tragically took her own life on March 17. In a statement released the day after her passing, Jagger said:
I am still struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way.
We spent many wonderful years together and had made a great life for ourselves. She had great presence and her talent was much admired, not least by me.
I have been touched by the tributes that people have paid to her, and also the personal messages of support that I have received.
I will never forget her,
Mick
