After closing on March 17 of 2020, Downtown Duluth's Lyric Kitchen Bar announced they will be opening later this month. The dining and cocktail establishment in the Holiday Center on Superior Street announced over a year ago that they would be temporarily closing, sharing a message via their social media that the closure was in "following the Executive Government Order with these preventative measures to keep our staff and community safe."

In the message shared in March of 2020, they didn't share any specific details on a reopening date, but did say "We’ll be back to serving you your favorites soon!" A little over a year later, and the eatery has announced when patrons will be able to enjoy food and drinks at the Lyric once again.

The restaurant posted a sign on their front door as well as posted a message on their Facebook page that they will be reopening their doors to the public on June 14. While possibly coincidental, this date happens to fall just after Superior Street in front of the Holiday Center is scheduled to reopen.

Superior Street, which closed in front of the Holiday Center in mid-April to finish the reconstruction project along the roadway, is scheduled to reopen on June 11. This is obviously contingent on weather and whether crews can get work completed in the next week and change, but they've been making progress in recent days that make that deadline look pretty realistic.

While many restaurants rode out the pandemic offering delivery, take-out, and limited dine-in service, some others opted to close down. Another of those that shut down in 2020 was Canal Park Brewing Company, which opened at the beginning of May after being closed since November of 2020.
