Lola, Kinks, Rayman’s Song Of The Day
Never as popular as the Beatles or the Stones, The Kinks still hold their own as part of the British Invasion. The core of The Kinks were brothers Ray & Dave Davies, Pete Quaife, and Mick Avory. Signed to a contract in 1964 with Pye records, the boys had 12 hits in the r&r top 40, and did even better in their homeland. The song Lola was inspired by transvestite Candy Darling who allegedly dated head Kink Ray Davies for a time.
