Little Richard, 79 years young, took the throne at D.C.'s Howard Theater for ninety minutes, pounding out his hits and then some. Richard, despite being in constant pain over the last three years, he still has the fire and showmanship that made him a legend.

His playlist was non existent, as he not only sang various songs at will, but often  bantered with his band as well as the crowd. Richard, never one to keep his thoughts to himself, is most comfortable in that environment, rather than a set of one song to another.

From Big Mama Thornton, to Ray Charles, then into a banter about the Lord, Richard held the audience in his palm. Jenny Jenny, Keep a Knockin, and of course Lucille. He played them all, got the crowd not only on his side, but on their feet. Bama Lama Bama Loo blew the roof off the joint, the Richard slowed it down with some gospel.

As the show came to a close, he belted out Tutti Frutti, followed by Goodnight Irene. " "I thank you all for having me here," Richard said before leaving the stage. "I am the architect of Rock and Roll." Nobody argued with the  Georgia Peach as they stood up a roared.
