The Minnesota State Fair has a national reputation for not only the variety of rides and food booths during the annual event, but also for it's grandstand entertainment.  Over the years, most national acts have played the grandstand at the fair - usually at the top of their game.  It looks like 2019's edition will be no different.

While a few of the scheduled acts have already been announced, organizers just released the names of two more acts that have joined the lineup:  Lionel Richie and Brandi Carlile.  Research determines that this is a return engagement for Carlile (she played in 2010) and a first-ever appearance for Richie.

As one of the most-consistent hitmakers of the 1970's and 1980's - first as a member of the Commodores and then, later a solo act, Richie racked up hit after hit on the Billboard charts. He has also sold more than 90-million records during the length of his career.

Meanwhile, Carlile has scored hits on the pop and adult contemporary charts since the mid-2000's. She is also recognized as having the most nominations for a female artist at the 61st annual Grammy awards.
