Is Kmart In Superior Closing After The Christmas Season? Store Officials Deny Rumor

The Northland may be losing another retailer after the coming Christmas season.  Kmart in Superior may shut their doors - leaving a vacancy in the retail mall known as Mid-Town Plaza.

Nationally, Kmart's troubles have been brewing for some time - with bottomed-out stock prices, bankruptcy, and an eventual merger with Sears.

The Superior location of Kmart has been around for decades, pre-dating Walmart and Target - two stores that opened within a mile and a half of the store in the 1990's.

UPDATE:  According to our news partners at WDIO, local store officials are denying that the location in Superior is closing
