Jerry Lewis To Retire From MDA Telethon
After 45 years of hosting duties, Jerry Lewis says that he will make his last appearance on the MDA Telethon this year.
In a prepared statement, Lewis commented:
"As a labor of love, I've hosted the annual Telethon since 1966 and I'll be making my final appearance on the show this year by performing my signature song, 'You'll Never Walk Alone,'" Lewis, 85, says of a condensed six-hour primetime broadcast scheduled to air on September 4th.
Although he may not be seen on the telethon, Lewis will continue to work behind the scenes - continuing on as National Chairman of the Muscular Dystrophy Association - a position he has held since the 1950's.
