Minnesota drivers are known for their personality, but the state is drawing a very clear line at the bumper. From clever wordplay to not-so-subtle innuendo, these personalized license plate requests were deemed a little too spicy for the roads of the Bold North.

Some Minnesota drivers might need to pump the brakes on their creativity, as the state has said no way to the following list of personalized license plates. From cheeky wordplay to not-so-subtle innuendos, don't even try, because these plates won't make it onto your car here in the North Star State.

If you own a motor vehicle here in Minnesota, you have several choices when it comes to choosing license plates. According to the state of Minnesota Department of Public Safety (MDPS) Driver and Vehicle Services (DVS) website, there are 15 different classes of license plates available, from commercial to motorcycle, dealer to limousine, and more.

Then, there are nearly 15 different license plate options under the specialized plate category, including special plates for Collector, Critical Habitat, State Parks and Trails, and more. You can also choose those new blackout plates (well, they're not totally new-- they first came out two years ago), as well as specialty plates for the Vikings, Twins, Wild, Timberwolves, and Lynx. And, of course, you can also personalize your OWN license plates here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, too.

Just what are the guidelines for getting your personalized plate request approved? This CBS-Minnesota story quoted Minnesota Department of Public Safety communications director Bruce Gordon, who explained what is off-limits:

“The law says that any license plate that would offend the public morals or decency is not acceptable,” Gordon noted in the story.
