TSA Just Updated Its Rules—New Items Banned from Checked Luggage at MSP
Every year, nearly 40 million people travel through Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, and it’s up to the Transportation Security Administration to make sure everyone flying in and out of Minnesota stays safe.
That means you and your luggage are screened when you fly to or from MSP airport, which is necessary, but can be a little stressful if you’re not sure what’s allowed in your luggage. TSA rules are always changing, so it’s important to stay up to date.

How TSA Rule Changes Affect MSP Travelers
Travelers flying in or out of MSP risk having their bags confiscated if any of the prohibited items are found in checked luggage. No one wants to deal with that hassle, so follow the rules when packing.
Just this week, the TSA added new items to the list of things that you aren't allowed to pack in your checked bags.

What's Now Banned in Checked Luggage at MSP Airport
Common items like curling irons, blow dryers, and hair straighteners are usually fine in both checked and carry-on bags, according to the FAA. But this week, the TSA updated its rules to ban certain models.
Cordless curling irons and flat irons that use gas cartridges—like butane—are no longer allowed in checked luggage. You can still bring them in your carry-on if they have a safety cover to prevent them from turning on accidentally.
If TSA agents find any of these or other banned items in your checked bag, they could confiscate your luggage. Below you'll see 29 different items that are also banned from checked baggage.
