Cat owners, there's a recall going on that you need to know about! A cat food brand that's sold all across Minnesota has issued a voluntary recall on one particular version of their food due to contamination.
Dog owners should also be aware of this, too, because the food being recalled is also listed as being a good topper for dog food.

Cat Food Recall Affects Minnesota
Sadly, one cat has already died due to this contamination. The death is what prompted testing of the food and, eventually, the recall.
The cat that passed away was in Oregon. It was an indoor cat who passed away from bird flu. Strange, because an indoor cat would theoretically have no contact with bird flu.
Unfortunately, the food the cat was being fed ended up testing positive for the highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) virus according to the cat food company's website.
The company recalled the food, which was sold to distributors in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Washington state, and British Columbia in Canada.
There are 14 stores in Minnesota that sell this particular product being recalled, including one Chuck and Don's location.
Recall on Northwest Naturals Cat Food
The company is called Northwest Naturals and they sell raw pet food for dogs and cats. I panicked for a second when I saw the company name because we have a bag of cat treats from them. Thankfully, the freeze-dried treats are not part of the recall.
The recall affects one batch of Northwest Naturals 2lb Feline Turkey Recipe raw frozen pet food.
The company specifies that the "recalled product is packaged in 2-pound plastic bags with “Best if used by” dates of 05/21/26 B10 and 06/23/2026 B1."
If you feed your cat Northwest Naturals, check the make sure that their food isn't affected by this recall.
