Young Child Critically Injured by Attacking Dogs in Brooklyn Park
Brooklyn Park, MN (KROC-AM News) - A child was severely injured in a dog attack this afternoon in the Twin Cities.
The Brooklyn Park Police Department says officers were dispatched at 12:45 PM to a report of a dog attacking a three-year-old child in the 7500 block of Brooklyn Park Drive. A news release says the officers arrived to find two pit bulls attacking the child.
Officials reported that several of the officers opened fire on the dogs. One was killed and the other was wounded.
The officers then performed lifesaving measures on the injured child. Brooklyn Park Police say the child was transported to a nearby hospital and is listed in critical condition.
The injured dog, after was secured, was taken to an animal care facility.
The news release says Brooklyn Park police detectives were called to the scene to investigate the incident.
