Man Charged in Major Rochester Drug Busts Accused of Hiding Gun Used in Rochester Shooting
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A Rochester man, who is a defendant in two major drug trafficking cases, is now facing a new charge in connection to a shooting that occurred in Rochester last Spring.

Last May, a Rochester Police Officer on patrol heard 2-3 gunshots in the area of 2800 Riverview Ln. Northwest. No injuries were reported in the shooting, however investigators found multiple bullet holes in a screen door and the home’s patio area.
The investigation indicated the alleged shooting occurred after an argument broke out between a man, who was helping a woman move out of a home, and 45-year-old Jon Michael Ask.
The court document says at one point during the dispute, a man in the area asked "Should I shoot this guy?" The charges say Ask replied, "yes” and the victim took off running and heard several gunshots.
Investigators later identified the suspected shooter as 45-year-old Corey Schreiber. He was arrested last July and charged with second-degree assault and illegal possession of a firearm.
Ask was arrested in July in connection with a drug trafficking investigation. During his time in custody, Ask told an investigator he hid the gun Schreiber is alleged to have used in the May shooting. He also admitted to hiding spent rounds from the weapon in a coke bottle that he later disposed of, the charges say.
Ask was charged Monday with a felony count of aiding an offender in connection to the May shooting. The Rochester man is also facing a combined total of six first-degree drug sales counts and other charges in connection to a pair of major drug busts that happened last year.
The first bust occurred in July when law enforcement found seven pounds of fentanyl at his home, which is in the same area as the shooting.
In September Ask was caught with large quantities of suspected cocaine, meth and a substance that tested positive for fentanyl, meth and cocaine.
The drug cases against Ask and the shooting case against Schreiber are set to go to trial in the spring. Ask is scheduled to make his first appearance on the aiding and abetting charge in March.
