Early Morning Rural Rochester Fire Under Investigation
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Officials are investigating a fire that started at a rural Rochester residence early Friday morning.
A news release issued by the Rochester Fire Department says crews were dispatched to the blaze shortly after 4:30 a.m. A tanker truck and multiple fire engines responded to the fire call.
The fire was reported at a residence in the 5100 block of Mary Dr. Northwest. The first crew to arrive found a fire in a garage, the news release says.
Officials say the flames were contained to the garage and its contents. Crews extinguished the fire and ensured it had not spread further within the structure.
No injuries were reported. A damage estimate is not yet available.
The Rochester Fire Department’s Fire Marshal Division responded to the home to investigate the blaze. The suspected cause of the fire has not been released.
Rochester fire officials are reminding residents to ensure proper storage of flammable materials by keeping them in small, labeled containers away from heaters, appliances, pilot lights and other heat sources.
The fire department is also reminding citizens to run only one charging tool at a time and to unplug the charger once the device has been charged.
