Minnesota Theater Set To Feature Classic Film For One Night Only
There have been plenty of music-based movies over the years and a lot more in the recent few.
Some have been great, some not so great but of course that's subjective by each viewer. One that stands out as a classic even though it's 1984 corny at times is Purple Rain.
Starring Prince, it debuted him as an actor and was heavily music driven as the film carries the same title of the iconic album. For Prince fans and especially those from Minnesota, the film includes photography and scenes from the Land of 10,000 Lakes.
If you haven't seen Purple Rain, or the last time you saw it in theaters was when it came out, another opportunity is next week in Duluth.
Zeitgeist in Downtown Duluth is known for bringing classic films back to the big screen and they are at it again featuring Purple Rain on Tuesday, July 16th at 7:00PM. I dig seeing older movies there as it's usually only a one-night event and for the most part the theater is packed with fans. You know, the ones who know all of the lines and eagerly anticipate the best parts.
Older movies replayed on the big screen give the experience some never got and while home audio systems now are pretty decent, there is just something about movie theater sound that makes it extra special. Purple Rain is one you don't want to miss on the big screen even if you're not the biggest fan of Prince but still appreciate music.
