Work Starts Today on New $7.1 Million Wisconsin Stadium
Starting today, April 15th, there will be increased traffic around the site of a new stadium being built in Superior as crews prep the site for the project.
The new $7.1 million stadium will feature a regulation turf playing surface for men's and women's soccer, which will be surrounded by a nine-lane track for men's and women's outdoor track and field teams along with a grandstand and press facilities.
An official groundbreaking ceremony will happen on Thursday, April 25th for the new Superior Choice Credit Union Stadium at The University of Wisconsin-Superior. The new stadium will be the home for Yellowjacket soccer and track in field, along with other community sporting events and youth programs.

Crews will begin working on the project, which is expected to wrap up in September, around the parking and green space areas near Crownhart Hall working on site preparation and installing utilities for the new stadium.
Once crews have completed the preparation work, excavation on the site will get underway. Construction shouldn't affect life or traffic around the campus much, just keep it in mind if you're heading to UWS for anything, as parking could be disturbed in some lots for the new stadium. Also, overnight parking for students could be affected, more info on that here.
The new stadium, located next to the Marcovich Wellness Center and behind Curran-McNeall and Ostrander halls, is being funded in part by a 10-year $1 million partnership with Superior Choice Credit Union, and a three-year, $450,000 agreement with Cenovus Energy and the Superior refinery for the artificial turf.
